The shape of this pillow conforms to the shape of your neck and shoulders so it stays under your neck better while you are sleeping. I found that my neck was often in the wrong position in the morning with other types of pillows which incorporate a roll. Also, I found other types of neck support pillows made it uncomfortable to sleep on your side but the two "wings" of this pillow make it comfortable to sleep on your side, as well as your back. It comes nicely packed in its own zippered plastic case.
